I use a small independent pharmacy now that my wife is retired. I'm on one script now and I can phone in refills and pick it up same day or they will deliver. The problem is they don't have access to some drugs like Vyvanse on a regular basis so Walgreens is the best option. And co-pays will vary from pharmacy to pharmacy.

Some insurers will also insist that clients use Express Scripts which is a mail service for the lower tier drugs and those get delivered by mail.

My wife is on one script and it is only available from Accredo.

Walgreens CEO used to be CEO of Express scripts and they are hoping he can turn them around.
