My Evie story. I bought one in November 2023 for a Christmas gift for my partner. It was said to ship in early 2024. That shit didn’t arrive until April. She was thrilled. Two months later it died; this is commonly seen in the Reddit. Oh, they gave us a refund in April and sent the ring anyhow, saying sorry for it taking so long. She wrote to customer service and they expedited a new ring to her, asking for the broken one back. She was so excited God bless her. The new ring died within 48 hours. Both times it’s the battery. It just quit. If you know about lithium ion batteries you know they can develop dendrites that pierce the membrane between layers and neutralize the battery. It’s battery 101 to mitigate this. Someone didn’t do the work at Evie. I shudder to think that perhaps the bendy nature of Liquidmetal could have contributed to the failure. In any case customer service has gotten back to her after taking a long July 4 break. They say they’ll allow one more replacement or her money back. We’re going for lucky number 3. God knows if they’ll give us our money back a second time. I heard Evie might be rebranded Evie Med? Also they haven’t taken new orders since like March. The current branding for these replacements is still Evie. It makes me think they have a box in the back room of the discontinued rings and they’re just sending them out hand over fist as the discontinued rings fail. In all an utter disaster imho. I do expect Evie to get the FDA clearance and to relaunch. I’m skeptical that they’ll suddenly learn how to create lasting microelectronics. I wouldn’t be surprised if they ditch Liquidmetal, depending on whether the bend is part of the battery problem. I definitely hope they keep us and even double-down. Meanwhile ring three is being expedited to our house as we speak.
