That's the shame of pro sports influence in College. There's so much back door money 'wink wink nudge nudge...that the coaches have become smart and know they can charge or ask for such large salaries. Who knows how much they make in the back pocket.

Here's another thing that has been going on since they created college sports. Scouting the schools right down to grade school. 4th and 5th grades and up.

I produced sports for a year or two back in the day, less than 15 years ago day. One afternoon we were doing the schools jr high teams. 7th graders. We would set up cams on the roof of the center press box. Just run the cables down to my cable truck. Before one game started a man and a woman asked for my permission to be up on the roof with my crew. There were full railings so I let them. They said they were scouts. I assumed the high school coaches from other schools or whatever. Went back to check on crew at halftime and there were 8 people up there. I remember starting to ask people to leave and some of them protested and asked me to please allow them to stay, they came from far away just for the three games that night. Then a few showed me their credentials and they were PRO scouts. Pro as in from Chicago and Dallas. 7th graders. I've heard younger for baseball as well. ALL sports connected to a pro sport is infected.

Blew my mind. I always knew scouts were around jr. and varsity high school. Huge money. I don't think they had tightened up the recruiting legals at that time much either.

That same season, same roof a couple of college scouts arguing about a student and one yelled I offered them a car did you? I made them find another vantage point off the roof.
