Multiple sources provided wafers with Lightwave modulators. A 200 mm wafer with arrayed devices was actually shown and the others were seen in the Lightwave lab. It takes around 1,000,000 man-hours to design and manufacture a new chip on a wafer.
The design process typically takes up to 12 months, and the manufacturing process takes up to 6 months. The design process involves creating the chip's architecture, designing the circuits, and verifying the design. The manufacturing process involves fabricating the chip on a wafer, testing the chip, and packaging the chip. Lightwave did or is the process to finalize those steps. Those are the last time-consuming steps before being able to go life, which Lebby confirmed was happening.
