If you decide you like it, for your birthday you could mix vodka, ginger beer and add a little bit of lime juice and that's a drink called a Moscow mule.

I found this all out by mistake - I ordered a vodka/ginger ale at a restaurant in Boston and it was so much better than any I'd had previously. So when the bill came we looked to see what kind of vodka it was and discovered they'd substituted ginger beer. A few days later at the airport I asked if they had ginger beer - they did and asked for it mixed with vodka. The bartender looked at me funny and said "So a Moscow Mule?". I was dumbfounded as I'd heard of them before and all I knew is that they came in copper cups. I had no idea it was simply a better version of vodka/ginger ale. lol
