There are some special cases where you can. They can open up a brokerage option to have your broker sell the shares for you, and then they over-proportion the shares the new company can sell to you, in a one-step transaction, then there's also the cases of legal settlements, where, to avoid formal charges and SEC investigations, they (ENZC) releases the shares at full value to another entity or financial institution.

It's happened before, it may happen again. One case, its buyer-sided with conditions against early short selling of the new company shares, the other is a share conversion as a result of a court case where Zhabilov has lost, and to avoid prosecution, he has to release the shares.
