The Chilean government has just issued a Request for Information for the exploration and exploitation of lithium in the country.

Some highlights are:

(i) The Expression of Interest should be submitted by June 17, 2024;

(ii) The consultation period will last until May 17, 2014;

(iii) Results will be announced on July 9, 2024;

(iv) Companies may express interest individually or as part of a consortium;

(v) The Expression of Interest will only be prepared for open salt flats (the list of restricted areas and salt flats is included in the RFI); and

(vi) On the basis of the information provided in the Expression of Interest submitted by the interested parties, the Chilean Government will determine possible tenders for salt flats with multiple interested parties, or to execute special operation contracts with companies that are the only interested in a particular site.
