Burba is on a roll and making a statement showing off his Porsche E.V. while hard at work in East Texas.

After Burba drove to an Atlanta (Tx.) coffee shop in his lithium battery-powered Porsche in November, he said International Battery Metals is zeroing in on Texas and Chile’s Atacama Desert.

And in the small Cass County town of Atlanta (Tx), another player operates in the background. John Burba declared himself “the Godfather of Lithium” on one promotional pamphlet. He said his company, International Battery Metals, isn’t worried about securing leases.

He likened the Smackover Formation to Spindletop — the Texas oil field that catapulted the U.S. into the oil age more than a century ago.
