You're probably right. I wonder how long they've been using spears. Did they first see a human doing it, or did they figure it out themselves? According to this person, they learned from local fishermen:

The same guy says in another tweet: "The locals believe that orangutan (forest man) can speak human language but that he/she doesn’t/ hides because they don’t want to be forced to work."
But maybe they DO work: "Palm oil plantations are increasingly threatening the livelihood of orangutans in areas like Borneo and Sumatra," according to another tweet...
