Blocking the plate was a judgement call and he appeared to be in the act of receiving the throw and his foot was on the back of the plate still giving the runner a path to the plate. So the only question left was did his hand come back down on the plate before the tag. The umps said no.

Knicks win so both them and the Rangers move on. Life is good.
