Again, any time they refer to strains, they are referring to the parents.

Again? When would this have been explained to anybody before? I must have missed it.

Any time you cross a strain with another strain you create a new strain. It took 5 different strains to produce the BAM1 hybrid strain. The DS strain, A strain, B strain, DS x A strain, and DS x B strain. Any time they refer to the BAM1 strain it should mean the hybrid not the parents of the hybrid. Also, I don't know why they named it BAM1. BAD1 would have made more sense, with the D standing for DS. I guess that name wouldn't have gone over so well with the investors.

"LAREC will provide insights and assistance in the selective breeding of the Company's BAM-1 parental strains tailored for the local climate and rearing conditions. The LAREC will also raise one generation of the BAM-1 strain at LAREC facilities and deliver the resulting eggs back to Kraig Labs for use in its operations. "

I get that LAREC is interested in research, but to do selective breeding you would do that over several generations not just one. With what appears to be a small gene pool to start with, too much selective breeding could lead to excessive inbreeding again. It would be pretty easy to do selective breeding for the first generation since it is so small. One would think that you would raise the parent strains in a more controlled environment to reduce the chance of disease. You don't want to be delivering diseased eggs all over the country. If the parent strains are robust and tailored to the local climate and rearing conditions there is no need for the hybrid. KBLB is not going to raise the hybrid cocoons themselves so a couple extra feet per cocoon would (possibly) only benefit the contractor(extra weight) and not KBLB. I think that KBLB would be buying the cocoons back from the contractors instead of paying the contractors a set amount to raise a certain number of eggs. Would be nice to know how they are wording the agreements with the contractors.
