So, BMY also likes to expand cell therapy via franchise. Interesting.

Calling something a "franchise" does not imply "franchising" as a commercial operation.

Many would call Patrick Mahomes a franchise quarterback. That does not mean he his being sold at McDonalds.

In this pharma space the term is used to describe a drug so large one structures operations around it. The first use I recall was Merck and their "Keytruda Franchise". Yet, Keytruda has not been out licensed in any way.

Since then it became a trendy term for a company to use to refer to a drug that a company expects to be their centerpiece.

LP called DCVax their franchise. That in no way implies they are franchising it.
