Unless you integrate chart information with a deep knowledge of a company as well as knowing where the market is at any given point, then you have a chance to know the direction of a stock's price. Charts don't consider news that comes out about a company and other companies as a whole which will obviously affect things.

Charting by itself in the hands of people who don't consider the above is just a bunch of Hocus Pocus to try and influence others.
