Oh boy, you really need a reality check, even at the current rate of consumption (84 mil barrels a day, 30 bil barrels a year), the world oil reserve, a little over 1 trillion barrels, will only last another 30-40 years. Most people here in their 30's and 40's will see that day.

Plus you don't need to see the last drop of oil dry before you have big problems, as soon as the demand is bigger than the supply, you'll have panic all over the world. A paradigm shift of not depending on oil will take 10 to 20 years, the time to start that paradigm shift is right NOW.
