I did make a nice profit, but after all those years really felt it should have been worth more.

Yes--it seems we investors in such situations often feel that way. I felt the same way about the Arena Pharmaceuticals (ARNA) buyout where I had parked all my IMGN profits. But the acquiring company's shareholders need to feel like they got a "win" also. Unfortunately for the acquired companies, buyouts often occur at the time the acquired company's stock has suffered a beatdown and is trading at a low price compared to historical norms. That's what happened in the ARNA situation where I felt like the buyout price was totally inadequate despite the offering being done at double the then existing stock price. That said, there were no higher competing bids so it was a wrap.
