Securing open source software: whose job is it anyway? Located at: The Register

The Rust Foundation will develop public key infrastructure for the crates.io package repository for mirroring and binary signing. The organization also published a threat model for crates.io and tools to identify malicious packages.

Methinks, From one of my previous posts on Microsoft, I think Microsoft made millions in contributions to Rust and open source companies. Why wouldn’t the open source group want to work with a more neutral (Swiss like) company (Wave Systems) that is more interested in true security and not so much the bottom line as Microsoft is? Plus if the TCG reinstated Wave then all these companies could work with open source so that the world could work together with better software. (A coompetition if you will??). All of the efforts that have gone into making the TPM 1.2 and TPM 2.0 shouldn’t go to waste!! That would be a travesty and having activated TPMs and Wave software could help make the internet much safer for everyone with device identity!!! Am I out of bounds Methinks?? Wave should now be helping the world out BIG TIME with its software security!!!
