I doubt if the company plans to put its IPR on parade. Patent laws have changed significantly over the last 20 years. Patents are no longer presumed valid. Any person or entity can challenge the validity of each patent. Hedge funds have been challenging the patents of companies to move the share prices. The burden of proof to defeat a patent is now by a majority replacing the former burden of clear and convincing. The strength of a patent portfolio is not fully realized until the holder successfully defends the challenged claims. Patent litigation is very expensive and just a couple of challenges could wipe out the dollars on hand which the company is counting on to operate until mid 2025. Our management is well aware of the above IPR environment. This is what they do. If you do not feel confident in management's ability to handle the bread-and-butter business, perhaps you should try a different investment.
