Erik Bakkers, the Dutch Physicist from Eindhoven University in the Netherlands, is working on developing silicon photonic chips and wants to use CHS in order to achieve this. Photonic chips will transmit data via light instead of metal and Bakkers mentioned the data throughput could increase by 100 times with photonic chips.

”For the growth of light-emitting silicon, it is important to work at an as low as possible temperature. CHS could be a game-changer,” said Dr. Bakkers.
