who said luxury street wear needed to be tougher?....the goal is to make clothing out of spider silk...spider silk is known to be a very strong fiber...thus anything made with it is simply stronger...the fact that it ds happens to be strong isnt a bad thing... it just is what it is...
"How many times have you smoothly moved into a bodybuilding pose and ripped your clothing with those bulging muscles?"
more times than i can keep track of...
"Have you used your hoodie as an impromptu rope to tow another vehicle behind your car?"
why would i?...it wouldnt work....but if you think a DS hoodie could be used to tow a car, boat or make an ultra strong sling, whats wrong with that?...
"Silkworm silk is actually pretty strong. It’s not used often because of its expense"
ive had silk shirts that werent particularly expensisve...
"and because it can fall apart in the washing machine."
mine didnt...
"All sorts of characteristics are considered when designers select fibers for their designs. Toughness is seldom an issue of concern."
i also doubt it would be a problem if it were tough...sure didnt seem to be a problem for MTM...why are you trying to suggest its a problem?..and what exactly would be the problem anyway?...
"Cost, look, feel, dye acceptance, washability, abrasion resistance, and many other factors are taken into account."
and MTM was ready to go...so...............whats your point?...
"Being really tough — not a big deal."
its spider silk...so its going to be inherently tough...whats the problem?...
"Clearly there are other applications where this is a big deal."
like military clothing where toughness and flexibility is a concern?...yup...
"But KBLB is targeting luxury streetwear and, for that market, existing fibers are tough enough."
and if ds is a little tougher, explain the problem...
