System D System D (Figure 25) was examined on Friday, October 28, 2022. This device is a three phase to three phase converter. Power is supplied by a standard Florida Power and Light (FPL) hookup. This system was connected with a large UPS:

The setup is as follows; input 3-phase is in the ‘wye’ configuration, but the HES systems are in ‘delta’ configuration. The measurement is done in the ‘wye’ configuration.

The system, as found, used the following configurations: Input; black, L1, red, L2, blue, L3 (as per manual, 1-2-3) Output; red, L1, blue, L2, black, L3 (as per HES protocol, 2-3-1)
Likewise, the resulting power input and outputs as found resulted in power output being greater than power input (Figure 28).

Configuring the DENT units as per the manual (Figure 29), power output is less than power input (Figure 30).

In all cases, the power factors (PF) were negative. This may be due to reversal of current coils, but at the time, we were unable to ascertain the reason for the error in current coil orientation. Both Clipboard and HES traced the path of the current from the panel through the system, and coils appeared to be in the correct orientation and wiring. This may be related to the convention of IEC and IEEE power factor as noted previously. The DENT manual does not specify which convention is used. Two Accuenergy power measurement systems were installed, with the same voltage/current measurement protocol as specified by HES. The voltage tap locations were not able to modified on this live system.
