Looks like this area might be the new gold rush in optical communications... Others startups in the space are e.g. Avicena (micro-LED arrays), Lightmatter, Lightelligence. Will be really interesting to see how this plays out. Within the box copper is still king though.

Chip-to-chip optical communication I can see, but optically-attached memory is further out I think. There are good reasons they are sticking stacks of HBM right next to the GPUs.
