According to UK law, they can only purchases to the extent of their profits.

Subject to the necessary shareholder and court approvals being obtained, the repurchases will be funded out of distributable profits utilizing the Company’s existing cash resources. The repurchase program was approved by the Amarin board in compliance with UK company law regarding distributions and the maintenance of capital.



But maybe there is a way around that, not sure.
