Not really trying to wade into this long standing battle, but I'd argue that different pastas have different textures and "mouth feel". I like spaghetti, angel hair, macaroni, fusilli, cavatappi, fettuccine, etc. I don't care for penne, ziti, rigatoni, bow tie, ravioli, tortellini, etc.
