Thank you. All very solid thoughts. However. . .I took about a $7,500 debit and rolled it out to Dec. 2026 with a $600 strike price. I took in about $3,400 when I sold the $300 call early last year, so the loss (not adjusting for taxes) is about $4,100. If called at $600, the cap gain increases by $30K. What I don't know is whether the $7,500 loss is a "wash sale" since I bought another call in rolling it out. My guess is "yes", it is a wash sale, which is a kick in rear, but that is what I did.
Buying in the call outright, then waiting 31 days to sell another call, would have been costly--over $19k to buy in the $300 call.
Bottom line--
I will never again sell a call on a LT position. N-E-V-E-R.
