I doubt the dropout rate in placebo was high cause placebo patients apparently did very well, so why would they drop out?

In any event dropouts are accounted for regardless what arm they were in. The idea is that the trial needs to be powered to show stat sig results when the dropouts are account for with some model that estimates the missing data. In other words results based on the "intention to treat" (ITT) population.

Also as an aside keep in mind that the placebo effect is in action for all patients both those on drug and placebo.
