I've thought about this for a long time.
I don't think the escrow bashing is because we won't get anything.
If that were the case, they wouldn't bother with the bashing.

They are doing it to benefit, somehow.
I think they want to lower expectations so we take less.
If the recovery for old shareholders comes in multiple buckets of private equity (PE) and one sells when the first bucket arrives, then it could mean the hedge funds running the PE get those shares, the seller loses them, and importantly, the seller misses out entirely on the future buckets--it instead goes to the hedge funds!
