Microsoft (MSFT) said Thursday it will invest 2.5 billion pounds ($3.2 billion) over the next three years to expand its artificial intelligence datacenter infrastructure in the UK.
The tech giant said this will be the company's largest-ever single investment in the UK, aimed at growing its datacenter footprint across locations in London and Cardiff, as well as potential expansion into northern England.
The planned spending will cover capacity, AI talent and education programs, and AI safety and security measures.
"Microsoft is committing to more than doubling its datacenter footprint in the UK, training more than one million people for the AI economy and supporting the UK's growing AI safety and research efforts," the company said.
