Robert Emil Mattachione, who turned himself in to federal agents on racketeering charges in January, pleaded guilty in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday to one count of conspiracy.

Mattachione, 32, of Lighthouse Point, faces up to five years in prison at his sentencing Sept. 26, before U.S. District Judge William Zloch.

Mattachione was implicated in a scheme to dupe out-of-state companies into sending computer equipment and parts on credit. He would close his phony businesses a few weeks later without paying for the goods, detectives said.

Mattachione, whose father ownes Kwik Cash Pawn Inc. in Fort Lauderdale, made more than $100,000 selling some of the goods to a Fort Lauderdale computer store and a Hollywood pawshop, police said. Investigators said he stole up to $500,000.
