I don't think people realize, but 'the helmet' at one time was actually called 'the underwear'. Random/weird story that I think about every time people talk about the helmet.

As a child I had a brother that was learning how to avoid wetting his bed. These days this would probably be considered child abuse, but at that time, stores sold a pair of underwear for kids that had an open electrical circuit. When the underwear got wet the circuit would close and you'd get shocked. The thought being, this would train you not to wet your bed. We got one of these contraptions for my brother. It only lasted a week because my siblings would get a cup of water, throw it on him and watch him get shocked before he even had a chance to go to bed. The amazing part is that they somehow took this technology out of kids underwear and put in on your head and it seems about as effective as a bed wetting deterrent as it is a GBM deterrent. Except, instead of charging $5 for something that doesn't work as intended, they are now able to charge $21,000/month!
