i don't know exactly, but based on what we have all witnessed, it appears that taking the company private might be in the works. If it undergoes a nasty slide from there, delisting comes into play which provides the opportunity for Sarissa's equity group to swoop in an acquire shares on the dirt cheap.

Why would they do this? Consider these quotes:

"Going private means that a company does not have to comply with costly and time-consuming regulatory requirements, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002"

"Going private can give struggling public companies an opportunity to restructure, make operational changes and turn things around with the possibility of going public again in the future once problems have been addressed. It can also free management from the scrutiny brought on by public."

"Private equity owners make money by buying companies they believe have value and can be improved. They improve the company, which generates more profits. They also make money when they eventually sell the improved company for more than they bought it for."

"Businesses often find it easier to restructure away from the demands of being a stock market listed company. Tough decisions on jobs or strategy don't have to be put to millions of shareholders and the company doesn't need to report results every quarter (or pay out dividends)."

So all in all, one has to think about the benefits of doing this to Sarissa. They would be free to restructure and shed all the short sellers and retail shareholders, make changes to operations, and prepare to take the company for a buyout upon BRAVE results. That would be the absolute worst outcome ...but that's what they do. They are looking out for #1 only.

On occasion though, companies that do this offer a premium (say 1.50-2.00/share) to existing shareholders.

It's a sad sad condition AMRN is in right now. My fear is there is no technical or fundamental support right now to stem the horrible effect of tax loss selling. Even worse ... perhaps that's the way they want it.

Sorry, that's all I know about this topic. As for the company, no news is bad news IMO.
