Sometimes the set designers also use something called "forced perspective". That's where for example the houses at the back of the set are built smaller than the ones at the front. Makes the audience think the set is deeper than it is. Or for more fun, they can build things at weird angles just to make the audience feel off-balance. Of course in this town, they already feel that way. ;0)
