The father of a kid who was 2 years behind me in high skool owned two liquor stores in town. He was a hard worker and reasonably successful (by the low standrds of the town). For retirement, he sold his liquor storest and bought a house in Arizona. Butt he was caught by the day-trading bug that was rampant at the time.
ALL of the money he made from his liquor stores - his entire retirement nest egg AND his house - he lost in about one year as a daytrader. He killed himself and left his wife with a foreclosed house and unpaid bills.
