My daughter once worked for a Madison Ave public relations firm tasked to develop a PR campaign for a new drug in the approval process. They only claimed the benefits the trial had shown, but the drug developer simply didn't want to make such substantial claims. At the end of what they came up with, the campaign was greatly watered down from their original ideas.

I believe their concerns was the regulators thinking they overstepped, so they had them water it down. To me it's sad that so much of almost ever drug commercial goes into the negative side effects. If our vaccine is ever actually advertised, won't it be great to say there is practically no negative side effects.

I believe that clinicians are free to say what they've observed, and it may be outstanding. Companies on the other hand can't always be so boastful, they have to be concerned with what the regulators will say.
