I said that the flurry of Covid-19 drug repurposing were a special case, where the emergency pressures allowed more often than normal to make shortcuts - or at least that is what I meant.

I referenced Covid-19 because you originally did and that a ton of search results for drug repurposing do - for the obvious reason.

If you look at the timeline I included in my post and read some more about drug repurposing, it becomes clear that it is the many steps, time and cost associated with molecular research, pre-clinical work and trials, then the P1 PK/PD clinical trial work that is ordinarily saved when repurposing a drug.

I would advice not clinging to Anavex shortcut hopes. None of them, like too small and open label trials, have not so far paid of for Anavex. We wait to see if the P2b/3 AD trial actually leads to AA or remains a P2b trial.
