I can’t imagine how anything can communicate with another stationary device let alone a device in motion. Communication is a two way process of course.

But yeah you are right, I bet someone has to open up the device, remove the ticker tape, take it to the lab for analysis, have it deciphered into a readily readable format and use that data in some sort of way that is relevant. Things like the temperature and humidity averages since the last month they removed the ticker tape could be collected. Maybe it might have a sensor that can tell if it night or daylight? It could collect that information to help us create a calendar? Could you imagine??

Until we have the technology that allow devices to communicate with each other, it would sort of be an electronic version of telepathy I’d assume since I can’t think of any other way at the moment to achieve such futuristic technologies.
