It’s obvious the company had to address the rumor. This sounds like the rumor was coming from inside the house, if I’m understanding the reference to a game of telephone, i.e., a misunderstanding in the telling between people that know each other. And the company used their proxies to provide some assurance; albeit, this doesn’t carry the same weight as if it came directly from management.

We’ll see how the market reacts in the morning.
