I’ve been skeptical about MITIGATE from the beginning. Why is an insurance company running a drug trial? What is the business case? KP was implicated in patient dumping some years ago. What is the insurance company’s business case for prolonging customers’ lives? Just like, what is the business case for homeowners insurance companies to stay in Florida and California?

Companies that have a research division expect a return on money spent on research. There are periodic reviews and projects that aren’t cutting it get axed.

I can imagine project leaders not having good answers to hard questions at an internal review and getting ripped a new one.
