Problem is, spinal stenosis (once it gets to the point of severe and when surgical intervention is then recommended), is real. At that point, if left untreated, it can lead to permanent damage such as numbness, paralysis, incontinence (bladder AND bowel), and etc.. Granted, surgical intervention should never be considered the first option initially- but to simply rule it out based on fear is equally risky imo
