South African “Dutch”

Actually it is Afrikaans. The Dutch first settled at the Cape in 1652. Over the next two hundred years the Dutch evolved into a recognizable different language, called Afrikaans. Very simpler to Dutch of course but more than a dialect. English colonists came later, and Afrikaans and English are now two of the eleven official languages of S A.

The ad shows that Alcock is advertising wider than English speakers — be interesting if there are ads also in Zulu, Xhosa, Tswana, etc. There are millions of speakers of these languages.
