So it's gonna be okay to call people "idiots" and the like? And otherwise let them behave like undisciplined five-year-olds? Just because--as those kids would say--"everybody does it"? Relative civility is one of the things that's made IHub stand apart over the years. It is not a Bad Thing.

It isn't that I don't believe IHub should make some changes, but trying to turn it into Twitter nearly 15 years after Twitter made its debut is the wrong approach.

IHub succeeded originally because it offered things Silicon Investor and Raging Bull didn't have. Chief among them was the possibility for users to post their photos illustrating their posts. Neither SI or RB ever got round to that. IH was also, I think, the first site of its kind to implement user moderators to keep order to the extent IHub did. That saved a lot of money, and it's worked surprisingly well over the years.

It continued to be innovative, and that is what kept it going. Sad to say, the only new stuff it's introduced lately is designed to make it more like other sites. Imitation may be the the sincerest form, but in the end, it's just... imitation.

IHub would, I think, do better to try to come up with something genuinely NEW. AND to finish with this eternal reformat. AND to ensure that annoying glitches don't keep reappearing.

I am 100% with Janice on this one - VERY well written !!!

IF Twitter or "insert name of competition here" is kicking one's butt, taking customers or eyeballs or whatever away then BUILD A BETTER NEW SOLUTION.....NOT freaking copy and "try" (NEVER will work !!) to become them, what the H ????

Entire MBA level case studies (Harvard, etc) exist on how this DOES NOT WORK !! You need to invent a BETTER mousetrap, gizmo, user experience whatever....NOT try and be a slightly "different clone" of said newly appeared competition that is suddenly eating one's lunch or inhibiting growth, etc !!

I smell the changes coming out of the UK parent company behind all this - I have no proof of that, but have read some of the major Sr Mgt changes at the parent of I-HUB and "New plans and narratives" by same... and this has their paw prints all over this "new stuff, lets make a lot of changes" blah blah.... if you ask me. The parent company penny stock is suffering and they ain't making any real money, etc.

"Trying" to become Twitter will NOT end well - and that to me "appears" to be the goal here and it ain't gonna work. Not a chance in heck IMO.

Youtube is very recently and notably cloning into Tik Tok now - and it's going to go down as one of the greatest FAILS in biz history !!

People go to Youtube for REAL CONTENT (documentaries, how to, videos that last more than 30 seconds of some idiot doing whatever, videos for people with an IQ over 60, history, education, real news, anything amazing and unique, etc) and not idiot-ville or the new version of Idiocracy !!

But.. but the mantra of the day has become.. BUT but... "it's NEW and different"...and.. and the "Young audience likes it..." blah blah... AS you lose the massive money loaded "older audience" to the idiot youth who are broke and have no coin to spend anyways. Zero sense ??

Tik Tok ads are aimed at nickel dime petty crap.

Watch golf some weekend (or horse racing such as the Triple Crown etc) - and see who their sponsors are. Expensive cars and car brands, financial investment companies for clients with over a $million to invest, golf clubs or golf outings at courses that can cost $10K w/o even batting an eyebrow, private jet services, luxury travel and on and on. The avg golf "watcher/player" is college educated and likely holds advanced degrees (doctors, lawyers, start-up company owners, CEO's etc) and has $150K low-end income and low end over $1 million in liquid assets and net worth.

Tik Tok viewers are broke, in debt and dumber than tree stumps.

There's a reason why Tiger Woods despite struggling with injuries and not playing as well as his prime STILL gets paid mega bucks and is a Ba $billionaire.

WHEN Tiger shows up to any tournament, anywhere on the planet - TV's are on by often 5X more viewers (eyeballs for ads !) than if he was not playing that day....and the course is flooded with people there ONLY to watch him play while spending a ton of money !!

Tell me who has the money to spend and where to pitch the ads ?

Sink to the lower tier since "everyone's doing it" - is THAT where the high dollar ads and eyeballs are at ? I think not if you ask me !

Tik Tok and all the rest will fade and fade fast - just more flashes in the pan.

Gotta do better than lowering one's bar out of desperation - it's about making a "NEW THING and NEW EXPERIENCE THAT IS BETTER" - try that maybe !!
