REPORT #1 (2023) VAZKEPA® VS. OMACOR (LOVAZA SCRIPTS)
I was recently able to locate a public source for All prescribed medicines distributed in the UK. The English Prescribed Database (EPD) is a huge database (https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/prescription-data/prescribing-data) that contains information about every medicine funded by NHS and prescribed in the UK including cost data. It is published each month and is two months behind. The latest month for this report is April 2023. I’ve filtered this dataset down to two drugs:
1. Icosapent ethyl (VAZKEPA®)
2. OMG-3 EE OMACOR (LOVAZA)
This first report contains the number of capsules prescribed for each drug for Jan-Apr 2023. Three graphs depict the relationship in market shares for each drug. The third graph shows the relationship between VASCEPA® and LOVAZA in USA scripts during the same months (Jan-Apr).
