Judging from this new June 7 Nueva Mineria & Energia article it appears Nornickel wants dibs on a new-ish "just starting" lithium project (as opposed to "old farts" SQM & Albemarle) https://www-nuevamineria-com.translate.goog/revista/gigante-minero-ruso-nornickel-muestra-interes-por-litio-en-chile/?_x_tr_sl=es&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-US see paragraph 5 where they say "The company's interest accounts for its plans to expand into a business in which it is just starting". And for the record... LPI is "just starting"... barely... that is we could start if only we could just jettison all our parasitic energy-sapping management save Martin Borda & Russell Barwick.

These Russians have some serious seed money in the bank and contrary to what that nearly illiterate askhole Arcpro says that there is "Zero chance Chile will deal with Russia" based on no quoted examples or precedence or research, I instead believe that Russia has a good chance in cutting a deal or two with Chile. When you look back over the years it was Russia who sent their jumbo fire-suppression water tanker aircraft to Chile for free many times to put out the huge forest fires that Chile routinely suffers and lots of leftist/commie voters in Chile like Russia. If you think about it, Chile would be smart to sell some lithium mines to Russia in a shrewd pacification strategy... such a move would tamp down (ie short-circuit) the militant Bolivian demand for Chile to cede back the Red Corridor to Bolivia using armed soldiers from Venezuela, Brazil, Cuba, Iran and Russia to help Bolivia get access to the Pacific Ocean for shipping its future lithium to Russia through the backdoor Vladivostok.
