I agree. The FDA has said that it likes to see peer reviewed papers on drugs it is reviewing.

I suspect the FDA views those papers as a serious second opinion rather like its drug advisory committees.

I also suspect that Anavex is facing some serious attempts at delay on its peer reviewed paper. There is a lot of money at stake as well as a lot of entrenched interests that will be impacted by a positive paper on 2-73. Much of the delay tactics will be disguised as "academic rigor" or return with requests to "improve clarity" etc. The amount of funding for AD will shift to the disadvantage of a lot of researchers and institutions. People fight to preserve their income streams.
