It takes a long time (years) to finalize technology that disrupts an industry including getting a large number of users in place to scale it up. It took ASML almost 3 decades ( and many biilions of dollars) to get its technology to work properly and to subsequently disrupt a stagnant chip sector. Granted, ASML's tech is even more complicated but unique technology has to be right the first time when introduced.
