We thank Mandel and De Groot for their comments on our phase 3 nonrandomized controlled trial and their recognition of external control populations (ECPs) as an area of innovation. We agree that lack of access to individual patient data is a general problem in the field, and we already noted this as a limitation to our study. We hope this situation will start to change. Until then, the matching-adjusted indirect comparison methodology we used is a well-established approach for patient matching based on demographic and prognostic factors.
