Yes, there is no way technical analysis can be used on an empty shell. At this time nothing is based on the actual shell or it's financials, but completely on the news. If tomorrow GS tweets positively, the price will fly otherwise the price will start relatively the same. The reason for the candle IMHO is that people that wanted to get in sub penny or average down had to get their funds cleared or available which took a day or two. Those who wanted to dump, did. Now you have those that play the market daily and some even PnD.
