Not counting Codelco: report calculates that supporting State companies costs the Treasury the equivalent of 6,500 social housing per year
https://www-redimin-cl.translate.goog/sin-contar-codelco-informe-calcula-que-sostener-a-las-empresas-estatales-le-cuesta-al-fisco-el-equivalente-a-6-500-viviendas-sociales-por-ano/?_x_tr_sl=es&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-US&_x_tr_pto=wapp a report by the Libertad y Desarrollo (LyD) Institute

Had Chile taken the money they spent trying to artificially "prop up" the 17 companies where the Treasury is the majority owner for the period 2001-2021 the State could have instead built 6,500 houses for Chileans (presumably "poor" Chileans) and there is every indication that the NLC is going to be another one of these boondoggle companies where the State has to pump money into it just to keep the business afloat.

Chile has a miserable track record on setting up and operating State-run companies... and ENAMI might be one of the worst.

State-run Codelco has contributed to the Chilean Treasury a net US$56,279,000,000 over the last 20 years, but you need to remember that Codelco is also US$32,140,000,000 minimum in debt https://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=169167469 so factor that key number into the company's true bottom line.

How anyone can still argue today that Chile knows how to run a State-created majority-ownership company (even forgetting Codelco for now) is just totally ludicrous.
