An interesting video on Intel ( about 1 yr ago) at the bottom of page, with new fabs currently under construction in Oregon, New Mexico, AZ, Ireland, Israel and more announcements by year's end on another US based and an EU based fab to be built, you certainly can't say they are not investing in the future, because they are dropping some serious coin!

Currently, Intel is building four chip production plants — two in Arizona and two in Ohio — and one advanced packaging facility in New Mexico. Intel broke ground on Fab 52 and Fab 62 in the Ocotillo campus near Phoenix, Arizona, in late September 2021, and the construction of those buildings is well underway.
