Those trade types are reported as short volume each day (even though there is no resulting short interest).

And sometimes the offsetting leg does hit the tape if it is the cover for a set of block sales earlier in the day. This happens because the price of the offsetting leg is different than the initial legs including the block fee if that is where it is charged.
