You're right, "shareholders are not stupid" and will, IMO, get the hell out of Dodge at the very next sign of some semblance of a profit. DBMM's "9 wins" came on the heels of year after year of losers, not to mention losses. Was the "fall into place" period intended to be twenty years in the making?
